About StopSlouching
Who we are, and how we research what we publish.
Who's behind it
StopSlouching is built and operated by ScreenPulse, an independent software studio. We make one thing: a posture coach that uses your computer's webcam to notice when you slouch and nudge you to sit up — with the video and the pose detection running entirely on your own device, never uploaded.
We're a software team, not a clinic. What we bring is engineering plus a lot of time spent looking at real posture data from the tool itself — not medical authority. Where a claim is clinical, we defer to published research and say so (see below).
We use what we build
Every guide here is informed by actually running the product through real workdays. A recent week of our own usage, for instance, showed forward-head posture driving 100% of the slouches it caught, with the worst stretch landing between 10–11pm— late-night desk time, exactly when focus wins and posture loses. First-hand patterns like that are why our advice skews practical (“here's what actually slips, and when”) instead of generic.
How we research
Posture content is full of confident myths. Our standard for the health claims on this site:
- We cite peer-reviewed research — systematic reviews and trials where they exist — and link the source so you can check it yourself.
- We separate what's well-evidencedfrom what's plausible-but-unproven, and we say when the evidence is thin.
- We date our guides and update them when we materially change the advice.
- We don't publish fake reviews, fabricated ratings, or invented expert personas.
Not medical advice
The articles here are educational — not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Posture is one input into how your neck and back feel, not the whole story. If you have persistent or severe pain, numbness, or anything that worries you, please see a physician or physical therapist.
Privacy by design
The product is built so your webcam never has to trust us: video and pose detection happen locally, and nothing leaves your machine. Full details are in our privacy policy.
